Welcome
Welcome to The Cat Help Charitable Trust official web site. We became a Charitable Trust
(CC45805) in December 2010 and have been granted donor status so all donations to
Cat Help are eligible for a portion to be claimed back through the IRD.
Our Mission
The Cat Help Charitable Trust is made up of a small group of volunteers committed
to the welfare of unwanted, stray, abandoned and feral cats and kittens in Christchurch,
New Zealand, and surrounding areas. We were granted Charitable Trust status on the
2nd December 2010.
Funding is through donations, rehoming fees and our own fundraising which goes towards
meeting vet bills and food. Our fundraising includes holding garage sales and having
a stall at the Brighton Market. We always welcome donations of items for the above
and we are happy to collect items from you.
Cats and kittens awaiting homes are fostered by volunteers, but we do not have a
sanctuary. If you are interested in viewing any of our cats or kittens, or if you
would like to make a donation to meet the costs of looking after these cats, please
contact us - we would love to hear from you.
Our Aims
To trap, treat and rehome (where possible) feral/abandoned cats/kittens.
Find loving and responsible homes for rescued cats and kittens.
Promote de-sexing and microchipping. Our adult cats are de-sexed, microchipped and
vaccinated before homing.
Educate cat owners and the general public.
Provide humane euthanizing of cats/kittens when necessary, in consultation with
vets.

Many thanks to those who supported our Easter Raffle. The winning ticket was 97 - Steve - who said the grandchildren would love the chocolates and he was eyeing up the wine. Drawn by vet Nicki at Avonside Wainoni Vet Clinic.
19 April 2012
Only 1 and a half days to go until our garage sale on Saturday. We have some great items and all the proceeds go towards vet bills. Also, we are holding an open day so you can have a look at all our cats and kittens and hopefully offer a loving and responsible home to one or more of them. Come around from 8am onwards, 100 Barbour Street, Saturday 21st April
24 March 2012
Well kitten season has not let up and we have had up to 27 kittens at any one time all of various ages. The uncertain situation in Christchurch around rental housing is making it difficult to rehome at the moment so if you know anyone who needs a cat or kitten get them to contact us
8 February 2012
January was a very busy month and February is looking like more of the same. It is hard having to say no to people but we are completely full at the moment. Hopefully some of our adults will find new homes to make space for others.

Once again, thanks to everyone who bought a calendar. It was a bit of a risk but it paid off with all but 5 sold and we are pretty confident that they will go in the next couple of weeks. As expected over Christmas/New Year not many pusses rehomed but the kittens remain popular and we still have some if you want one or more :)
